LSA International | The Greenhouse


Celebrating Sustainable Living

Leading glassware brand LSA International approached AMD to design an immersive, temporary shop concept as part of London Design Festival 2019. The critically acclaimed ‘Greenhouse by LSA & Friends’ celebrated the launch of ‘Canopy’ – a new 100% sustainable collection created in collaboration with The Eden Project.

The Canopy range was inspired by the idea that “we live together as one community under the same canopy”. The products themselves – planters, terrariums, vases, drinking vessels – are based on the themes of propagation and hydration. Set within a 260 sqm empty retail unit at the industrial Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, our challenge was to create an “urban oasis” to visually depict the story of the range as well as LSA’s artisanal design process.

Using the geodesic dome at The Eden Project in Devon as our feature design concept, we designed a series of geodesic trees to mimic the idea of a greenhouse, as well as a large central dome which displayed the Canopy collection in its entirety. Keeping sustainability in mind, all display units were made to be reused at future exhibitions.

Working with marketing consultant’s DNA Partners and Brand Story, the space was further brought to life with live content and partnerships. Collaborators, who were carefully selected for their commitment to sustainable living, included; Wild by Tart, The Botanical Boys, St Ives Liquor, Pebble Magazine, Workshop Coffee and Small Beer.

To give the space an immersive dimension, we projected abstract videos of trees along the back wall and played a nature inspired soundscape. Plants were an incredibly important aspect to the fit out, including 46 hanging ivy plants which dressed the window displays. Whilst all fixtures and fittings were designed and made by AMD, design-led furniture was loaned by String and Vitra.
