John Lewis | Oxford Street | 2025
Transforming the Women’s Shoe Department.
AMD were commissioned to reimagine the shoe department at John Lewis’s iconic Oxford Street flagship, delivering a space that reflects the evolving expectations of modern retail. The brief called for a bold transformation — one that could reinvigorate the department with a more relaxed, tactile, and sculptural feel, while remaining highly adaptable to a wide variety of product ranges.
A bold step forward.
The result is a dynamic and engaging retail environment that balances form and function. Geometric spatial design defines distinct zones, giving structure without rigidity. Each shoe is given its own stage, carefully curated to feel unique and elevated — a deliberate move away from traditional display strategies, designed to enhance product visibility and customer experience.
OUR AIM
“To create a dynamic setting that not only resonates with existing customers but also draws in new audiences.”
Innovative in approach and striking in execution, the department blends sculptural elements with practical flexibility. Materials were chosen for their texture and tactility, reinforcing a sense of quality and warmth. This space doesn’t just sell shoes — it creates a sense of occasion.
Targeted equally at loyal customers and new audiences, the design speaks to the future of department store retail: a place where comfort meets creativity, and every step feels special.
